DJ 2SCHOTTZ!!!!

Date: 02-26-2018
Companion: Sister Jones
Area: Vancouver East Stake, Prune Hill Ward

HELLO FAM! how crazy has life been!? As y'all know I got transferred again and I'm BACK WITH MY GOOD OL' PAL BETSY JO SCHOTT!!! So life is good here in the Prune Hill ward. (Different ward than last time, same house as last time)

Literally this area has some of the nicest houses I have ever seen. And there were some dang nice houses in Portland. But this area is entirely full of MANSIONS. I SWEAR.

Couple of things I've been studying this week:
The spirit. Holy cow the spirit is incredible. Preach my gospel says the way to become converted unto the Lord is through the Book of Mormon, combined with the holy ghost. This may surprise you all, but this is true for members as well. (Go read Elder Benars talk "converted unto the lord")

So how do we make sure we can feel the spirit more in our lives? How do we help ourselves find the happiness that comes from the presence of the holy ghost? We stand in holy places! Does this mean we can only feel the spirit at church? Or at the temple? Or Wednesday night's at mutual? (Yes that is a holy place) NO. those are not the only places we can go to feel the spirit. Make the place you're Standing in, a holy place.

Go back to the basics. Say a prayer. Read the scriptures. Go to church. Serve others. Tell someone they're loved. As you do the things the Savior did while he was on earth, you become the holy place others could come to so they can feel the spirit.

Another way is by being obedient to all of God's commandments and your promises with Him. God gives us these commandments for a reason and I know I've said this 8,000 times but I'll say it 8,000 more. The directions God gives us are to keep us safe. Not hold us back. Obedience brings us blessings!!! It's like someone telling you to get on the roof of a building and giving you a ladder and you refusing to climb the ladder, but getting angry because you're not at the top. Obedience will allow us to feel the spirit and change our lives for the better.

I know these things to be true. I cannot emphasize it in any other way and there is no way for you to know unless you try it. Stop being lazy. Stop watching those r rated movies. Put the cigarette down. Put the tobacco down. Throw away the coffe. But it's not enough to just stop doing the bad things. You have to start doing the good things. Pray. Read one verse of scripture. Go to sacrament meeting. I promise it will change your life and you will find that happiness you are so desperately looking for.

Love y'all.

Goodbye Portland :)

Honestly, I don't have much for this week except this. We hold a weekly book of Mormon class and this week we were reading about Alma and Amulek and I just think Amulek is such a great person and we can learn a lot about his story. In Alma10:4-5 Amulek tells the people that he is widely known and that he had lots of possessions, but that he wasn't following the ways of the Lord. He says his heart was hardened. But then he tells them about how an angel appeared to him and told him to wait for Alma and to feed him. And then the Lord uses Amulek and a HUGE instrument to help bring people closer to God. He's teaching, testifying, throwing down doctrine at Satan!! And I just think it's the coolest thing ever. Amulek wasn't this guy who had a huge moment where he felt like he needed to change everything. Amulek wasn't a guy that was evil and was called to repentance. Amulek wasn't this poverty stricken man, forced to he humble. Amulek must have been doing SOMETHING that allowed the spirit and an angel to talk to him. And as soon as they did, he changed his ways. He was very exact. He made his decision and he stuck to it. He was just this ordinary man, living life, and because he was willing to listen, he changed his own life and others for the better.

Everything we do influences other people. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. There is never a decision of "well it's just me." "It'll only hurt me" "It'll only benefit me" no. Everything you do can and will be seen or heard by others, or will effect others. If you're putting your eternal salvation at hand, you're not just affecting yourself. Your affecting your family because "families are forever". If you think others aren't always watching you and learning from you, you're wrong. If you think you can't make a difference, you're wrong.

Recently, I was trying to figure out why God wanted me to go to the semester of college before I came out on my mission. I've often thought back to it and been frustrated with myself because I could've gotten a job and saved up money. I don't remember hardly anything I learned from my classes. I'm not in contact with anyone that I met while there. I could not figure out why I needed that experience in my portfolio. But today, one of my roommates emailed me (I haven't talked to her in about 15 months) and she said she was 3 weeks into her mission in Chile. She said she had felt influenced by my decision. It was so cool to see God answer my prayers and tell me why that happened.

Remember, not everything is about you. You effect others as well. Think about that the next time you do or don't do something.

Lots of stuff happened this week. All I can say is that when its 8:45pm and we're in Portland I'm very glad that we have a car with an alarm on it.(: All is well.

And I have a testimony in setting goals and working towards them. Sometimes we set goals and we don't always achieve them. And it doesn't mean that we're failures. It means that God has a different plan for us and what's the most important thing we can do is not always to achieve the goals we set for ourselves, but to achieve the goals God has for us. That's what you should really be aiming for. And the only way to achieve Gods goal for us is to figure out what he needs us to do. And we can do that by praying, reading the scriptures, going to church and other meetings. Go back to the basics and remember that God loves you. He has a plan for you and when you try to go on your own path instead of God's, you're choosing to have a harder life with less blessings.

Count your blessings instead of looking at the negative. Love y'all

It was Twilight, and Jedi Master LeDuc came in clutch

Date: 02-05-2018
Companion: Sister Keetch

Alright everyone. I'm wearing my Mulan shirt today for p-day which means we're getting down to business.

God has a plan for each one of us. God also loves us. So God isn't going to create a plan that would make us suffer. God created a plan that would allow us to be as happy as we could possibly be. So just like when you have your own kids or when your babysitting and the child won't just stop getting into things they shouldn't get to, you put rules in place so they can be happy, and be protected from danger. Follow the dang commandments people. That's why they're in place. To protect you. If you're wondering why life isn't as good as it used to be, or why you're not as happy as you'd want to be then pick up a Book of Mormon. Read it. And Pray about it. It's that easy to find happiness in your life.

That's my message for y'all. Stop being dumb. God loves you. I love you. Not as much as I love Kaeli Townsend though, sorry to disappoint everyone that isn't her.

Also, Makayla Barahona is my best friend.

I hope y'all have a blessed week.
