Gators on Gators on Gators

Date: 05-29-2017
Companion: Sister Phillips
Area: Longview Washington Stake, Woodland 1st Ward

It's been a pretty good week this week!

We had a couple of miracles. One of them being that we set a goal to find 3 new investigators. It was Saturday and we hadn't found any! So we prayed that we'd be able to have 3 and then we went to work. We visited tons of former investigators and got 2. But we really wanted one more. So we decided to draw with chalk on the ground and leave our phone number and try to get people to call us. While we were drawing with chalk, a member from our ward stopped by us and introduced us to his girlfriend who isn't a member and said they were going to wait until tomorrow to call us. But then we ended up having a lesson right then and we got our 3rd investigator. This took the entire day but because we set a goal, worked towards it, and prayed about it. We finally made it! It was so cool!

Finding Joy

Date: 05-29-2017
Companion: Sister Phillips
Area: Longview Washington Stake, Woodland 1st Ward

HEEEELLLLLOOOO EVERYONE.

tbh I can't even remember a lot of what has happened this week. But for the most part it was a good week. There's been a couple of ups and downs and we definitely got lost for about a half an hour somewhere deep in the forest and I just kept waiting for Edward and Bella to pop out somewhere because we were THAT FAR THE THE FOREST.

I'm not going to lie, we were 30 minutes late to a stake meeting and it was really embarrassing and i was getting really down on myself. There were a couple of other things that week that happened that were causing me stress and it was kind of bad for a little bit. But one thing that my previous companion was helping and is still helping me with is finding joy. That has been on my mind so much. I have the strongest testimony in looking for joy and looking for the good parts of life. I know that as we look for the happiness that Heavenly Father has blessed us with that we will truly find joy. And it will make everything worth it and easier, it won't take our trials away but we will feel God's hand in our life.

Please remember to find Joy this week! I love you all so much!

It was a week of miracles this week

Date: 05-15-2017
Companion: Sister Phillips
Area: Longview Washington Stake, Woodland 1st Ward

IT WAS A WEEK OF MIRACLES THIS WEEK.

Well for starters, I loved being able to talk with my family this week! It was so much fun! I miss them all so much but I love being out here serving the Lord. And I know that what I am doing is where I'm supposed to be.

MIRACLE OF ALL MIRACLES. LISTEN UP EVERYONE!!!!

Saturday, Sister Phillips and I were tracting for 2 hours straight and it was pouring down rain and we were soaking wet and NO ONE WAS HAVING ANY OF IT. So it was time for us to start heading back to our dinner appointment and we're driving on this really busy road and we see a guy walking on the side of the road and Sister Phillips goes "we need to talk to him" and I was like.... are you kidding me. No. I just wanted to be done. But Sister Phillips says "no we're talking to him." So we flip a U-ie and he sees us and is kind of creeped out cause we're just like staring at him and we're on the other side of the road so we have to wait and its super loud so we can't talk to him and let's just say it was really AWKWARD. but then when we finally crossed the road and talked with him and he ended up opening up to us and telling us everything and how the gospel was exactly what he needed! His truck was broken down which is why he was walking but he said if he could get his truck started that he would come. He told us the general area where he lived but not his exact address. So Sunday rolls around and he wasn't there. We had two appointments cancel on us so we decided we would tract until we found him. Except the area he gave us was really general. Like 30 miles. So we prayed and tracted and WE FOUND HIM A SECOND TIME. It was AWESOME! He said he couldn't get his truck started. But we were able to give him a Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment! It was so cool. God totally helped us find him.

I know this is where I'm supposed to be and I love serving so much. Look for the miracles in your every day life. They're there.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day!  I could barely sit through church . . .  2:15 p.m. would not come soon enough.  I created a Skype Account, then I "Skyped" Brother to make sure it was working and we would be able to see Emma and she could see us.  We found a good spot to put the laptop, with no echo and good light and chairs, and stuff and everything.  Then . . . .  the call came.

Sister Emma Hansen popped up on our screen.  IT WAS GLORIOUS!

Seriously folks, how did missionary mamas make it before the internets and all the fancy techologies we have now?  I have a whole new respect for my mother-in-law who sent out 8 missionaries - sometimes two or three crossing over.  Oh my.

Emma was glowing - she looked so happy and was so excited about her work, and we got to see her beautiful companion, Sister Phillips for a quick minute.

Having Bryce, Bill and Emma on Skype had to be one of my top 3 Mother's Days ever!  Love my little family.

Sister Hansen's MTC District - Missionary Friends

So, when Sister Hansen was in MTC, there were 4 Elders in her District headed to the Ogden Utah Mission.  In one of her emails she said:

"P.S. Elders Lewis, Emry, Payne and Curtis are all serving in the Ogden mission, so if anyone happens to see them, tell them ya know me and give them lots of support!"

Elders Payne, Curtis, (me), Lewis and Emry.  Take good care of the FAM

Aaaand being the super creepy Mam that I am I sent them each an email (I'm officially in the Logan Utah Mission - so no rule breaks there) and just told them who I was and that our family lives and works in the area.  I told them if they were in need of a dinner appointment or someone cancelled and they were hungry, that I order a "mean pizza" or could make them a simple dinner.  I gave them my contact info and that was that.

Anytime I saw missionaries I'd look to see if it was her Elders.  Ogden City's Make-a-Difference-Day had about 50 Elders volunteering and guess who I met . . . yep, one of her Elders.  Elder Emry - he is serving in Ogden area and said he attends church in the building on 15th and Washington Blvd.  If you are in his ward - take good care of him!

Recently I met Elder Payne, and was able to deliver dinner to the Stake Center where he and his companion, Elder Hall serve.  I had to have proof that I was taking care of her missionaries, so . . . selfie with the Elders.  Which is tough cause you can't be near them, LOL and don't look at me, I was a mess.  Elder Hall on the left, and Elder Payne on the right - they are in the Ogden East Stake, I think the Eccles Park Ward or Highland Ward.  Take good care of them FAM.

Woodland 1st. Same subject, different week? Nah its all the same. Sorry for the long subject. It's like a fallout boy song or something

Date: 05-08-2017
Companion: Sister Phillips
Area: Longview Washington Stake, Woodland 1st Ward

HELLO. I am now in the woodland 1st ward serving with sister Phillips! We both came out at the same time so it's like 2 newbies who have no idea what they're doing but we're chugging along! It's all good! It's all very different. Definitely going to have to get used to the boonies. Haha! But it's been a good week. I've mostly been trying to get to know everyone in the ward. It's been great!

So I was nervous about transfers and i was praying super hard cause i was scared, and so much has happened. Heavenly Father has helped me so much I've learned a lot in the past couple of days just from personal revelation. I know that Heavenly Father loves me. And he loves you. And he wants to talk to all of you! Pray to him so he can help you! Because he wants to! I love you all so MUCH!

Woodland!

Date: 05-01-2017
Companion: Sister Staker - until Wednesday
Area: Vancouver North Stake, Walnut Grove Ward - Until Wednesday

Hello everyone!!! Transfers are this week! And I'm getting TRANSFERED TO WOODLAND! I'm excited but I'm also extremely nervous. I love the people here in Walnut Grove and I'm sad to be leaving them. Here's the mission office address which is the only address I can give for this transfer. So send letters to the mission home:

2223 NW 99th St.
Vancouver WA, 98665

It was really hard saying goodbye to everyone. I love my Walnutty Groovey ward. I can't wait to see all these people again not only when I visit the mission but when we are all reunited in the celestial kingdom!

We had a stake fireside last night that all the missionaries put together. It was all about Christ and how people have gained their testimony. There were tons of musical performances and the spirit was incredibly strong. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of my savior. That he can physically help me through any trial that I am going through. I know that when we turn to him and have faith that he will guide us and strengthen us through our trials, that he truly will and we will be further blessed for our faith.

TONS OF PICTURES THIS WEEK!
